Welcome to my Money Makeover series, where I delve deeper into my journey towards financial freedom and healing my relationship with money. If you haven't yet read the prior posts to this series, I highly recommend doing so via the links below as it sets the stage for getting the most out of these discussions.

👉 Intro to Money Makeover: From Financial Funk to Fun After a Year and a Half

👉 A Financial Nightmare: Da Fuq is Deferred Interest?

👉 Financial Nugget #1: Your Day Job Doesn't Diminish Your Artistry (Part 1 of 2)

Disclaimer: I'm not a money guru—just a human sharing her ups and downs on the road to being debt-free, who still has much to learn. So please take my musings as personal stories, and not pro financial advice.

In my mid 20s, I transferred from community college to San Francisco State University to obtain my bachelor’s degree.

I was in a long distance relationship with my then-boyfriend, who was a professional photographer. I also lived with two roommates who were into photography and engaged in various creative pursuits.

Living among artists and creatives for the first time in my life became a transformative experience for me. It marked the moment that I realized my own desire to pursue a creative life.

However, it took me a couple of years after this to even utter the words, "I'm a writer" or anything related to creativity.
